Obituary for Florence Zollman Goodbar Florence Zollman Goodbar
Rockbridge Native Was One Of J. D.'s Angels

Florence Zollman Goodbar, 94, of Lexington, Virginia, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at her home.

Born October 8, 1917 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Sherman Henry Zollman and Fannie Mae Miller Zollman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cluster McCoy Goodbar; three brothers, Robert, Lawrence, and John; one sister, Elizabeth Kirby; and a great-grandson, Shawn Staton.

She was past member of the Home Demonstration Club and was one of J. D.'s Angels of the Effinger Fire Department.

Surviving are her children, Maxine Smiley, Phyllis Tyree and husband, Earley, Eloise Sensabaugh and husband, Larry, all of Lexington, and Henry Goodbar, of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren: two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; very special caregivers, Delores Conner, Debbie Moore, and Loretta Moore.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 in Harrison Funeral Chapel with Dr. Horace Douty officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Effinger Fire Dept., 2824 Collierstown Road, Lexington, VA 24450, or Oxford Presbyterian Church, 143 Oxford Lane, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
