Obituary for Sarah Jane Varner Swisher Sarah Jane Varner Swisher
Worked With Leggett's Department Store For Over 18 Years

Sarah Jane Varner Swisher, 70, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Augusta Health.

Born April 1, 1941 in Augusta County, she was a daughter of the late Harmon Brown Varner and Mary Sandy Varner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Vincent and Clyde; one sister, Cleta Opple.

Mrs. Swisher worked for Leggett's Department Store for over 18 years and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene L. Swisher; son, Phillip E. Swisher, of Lexington; daughter, Vicki S. Shull and husband, Michael L., of Raphine; two grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron; two brothers, William Varner and Robert L. Varner, of Staunton; two sisters, Carletta Frank, of Singers Glen and Juanita Maddox, of Staunton; special cousin, Carol Hostetter, of Lexington; special canine friends, Kelli and Stormi; two grandcanines, Mocha and Jaycee.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Newport. Pallbearers will be Glenn Maddox, Steven Maddox, Gene McIlwee, Jason McIlwee, Ed Hostetter and Scottie Tomlin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Rockbridge Baths, VA 24473. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
