Clifton Forge Native Was BB&T Business Analyst

Deborah Jo (Joey) Jenkins, age 57, passed away on March 30, 2012 at Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough, NC.

A native of Clifton Forge, VA, she had relocated to Raleigh eighteen months ago to begin employment as a Business Analyst at BB&T.

Prior to her employment with BB&T, she had worked for Live Nation Worldwide, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, LLBean, Southwest Gas Company in Las Vegas, UNUM Insurance Company in Portland, Maine and Price Waterhouse.

She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O Grimes; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jenkins, Sr.; her parents, Mary and George Jenkins; and her brother, Larry.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Dr. Terry Jenkins of Virginia Beach, VA and three cousins: Dr. David Grimes, Chapel Hill, NC; Linda Brandon, Oak Ridge, NC; and Dr. Donald Grimes of Los Gatos, Cal. Additionally, she is survived by a host of long time friends, including Ronda and Jimmy Buchanan, Hillsborough, NC; Janet Brewer, Mari Miya, Jane Yurko and Brenda Grondin, all of the Portland, Maine area.

The family and friends wish to express their appreciation to her oncologist, Dr. Neeraj Agrawal and the staff of Cancer Centers of North Carolina, to the staff and residents of The Heritage of Raleigh, and to the staff of the Hospice at the Meadowlands. Your many acts of love and support will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to Hospice at the Meadowlands. Please make donations payable to Duke Homecare & Hospice (specify Meadowlands in check memo) and mail to DHCH Office of Development, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.

Friends and former colleagues were invited to an informal reception which was held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday April 4 at The Heritage located at 1200 Carlos Drive in Raleigh, NC. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Clifton Forge, Virginia with arrangements coordinated by Nicely's Funeral Home.
