Presbyterian Church Member Worked At Industrial Rayon Plant

Mrs. Laura (Sing) Montgomery Brown, age 98, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday March 31, 2012 at her residence.

She was the wife of the late Buford Lawson Brown, Sr.

Mrs. Brown was born September 1, 1913 at Kerr Creek, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Montgomery and Nancy Wilhelm Montgomery.

She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian women and served her church as a former Deacon. Sing was a lifetime member of the Covington Woman's Club, Flora Bunda Flower Club and was active in the PTA at the former East Covington Elementary School.

She most enjoyed her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon plant.

She is survived by two sons, Buford L. Brown, Jr. and wife, Linda and Michael A. Brown, Sr. and wife, Gale, both of Covington; four grandchildren, Traci Persinger and husband Mark, Shannon Rock and husband, William, Mikie Brown and wife, Mandaly, and Devon Morris and husband, Keith; six great grandchildren, Ethan, Cameron, MiKayla, Lucas, Addison, and Kailyn; one sister, Fay Montgomery of Goshen and also a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Buford Lawson Brown Sr. and parents, Robert Lee Montgomery and Nancy Wilhelm Montgomery, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Della Plott, Beulah Montgomery and Radie Petty and one brother, Cecil Montgomery.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday April 3, 2012, at the Loving Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie B. Pharr officiating assisted by her nephew, Rev. Glenn Plott. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Mikie Brown, Mark Persinger, William Rock, Jr., Keith Morris, Johnny Brown and Ethan Cline.

The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence of Buford L. Brown Jr., at 406 S. Carolton Dr. and at the residence of Michael A. Brown Sr., 536 E. Gray St., at other times. Donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church 185 N.
