Obituary for Jackie Lee (Jack) Johnson Jackie Lee (Jack) Johnson
Air Force Retiree Also Served As A Postmaster

Jackie Lee (Jack) Johnson, 72, of Lexington, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.

Born October 8, 1939 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late William Herman Johnson and Mabel Sophie Falls Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Johnson; one sister, Patsy Pauline Johnson; and one brother, William Herman Johnson, Jr.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a faithful member of the Faith Mountain Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer, deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for twenty years and with U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster after seventeen years of service.

Jack was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years, Anne E. Johnson; one daughter, Janet Johnson Entsminger and husband, Michael; two grandchildren, Matthew Gary and Jenna "Bug" Grace Entsminger, all of Lexington. Also surviving are four siblings, Mary Elizabeth Plogger, Marie Wilhelm, and Will Robert Johnson, all of Lexington; Raymond Kenneth Johnson and wife, Doris of Salem.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Faith Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent McGuirt officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

In Jack's memory, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Mountain Church Debt Retirement/Building Fund, 270 Valley Pike Rdoad, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
