Rockbridge Native Was Retired VDOT Inspector

Richard Donald Plogger, 74, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born October 3, 1937 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Thomas Preston Plogger and Sarah Jane Hostetter Plogger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jane Plogger.

Mr. Plogger was a member of the Lexington Baptist Church and attended Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Richard retired from VDOT as an inspector after many years of service.

Surviving are one daughter, Felicia Plogger Thompson; one son, Donnie Plogger; four brothers, Oscar Plogger, Clarence Plogger, and Emmett Plogger, all of Lexington; Melvin Plogger of New Market; one sister, Ethel Henricks of Lexington; one grandson, Thad Thompson.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home with Rev. Christina Tutterow officiating. Interment will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
