Obituary for Lucille Carey Crowder Lucille Carey Crowder
Former BARC Supervisor Was Millboro Presbyterian Church Member

Lucille Carey Crowder, 83, of 860 Ridge Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Wednesday evening (April 18, 2012) in LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany.

She was born in Nelson County, Virginia on February 9, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Leola Croff Carey.

She was a retired supervisor for BARC Electric Utility and her career spanned 34 years of service.

Mrs. Crowder was a member of the Millboro Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Crowder of Millboro; a sister, Lottie Whitmore of Tennessee; two brothers-in-law Cecil Mace of Staunton and Tommy Crowder and wife, Sissy of Grottoes; special friends and caregivers, Mike and Vicki Grist of Millboro, Samatha Grist of Richmond, Adam and Katie Grist of Marietta, Georgia; a niece, Lea Crisman of Denver, Colorado and a nephew, Ronnie Harris of Staunton.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Troy and three sisters, Lola, Inez and Mazie.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. from Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton with Rev. John Haney officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 295, Millboro, VA 24460. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call at the residence of 860 Ridge Road, Millboro at any time.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
