Jordan Mines Native Dies At Age 88

Mrs. Beulah Caldwell Wilcher, age 88, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at her daughter's residence.

She was the wife of the late Roy Allen Wilcher.

Mrs. Wilcher was born December 12, 1923 in Jordan Mines, the daughter of the late Edgar Henry Caldwell and Hallie Hosey Caldwell.

A lifetime member of this community, she was a member of the Holiness faith and loved her church and friends. Mrs. Wilcher enjoyed taking rides in her car and staying on the go.

Mrs. Wilcher is survived by one son, David Caldwell of Roanoke; six daughters, Linda D. Sartain and husband, Bill of Covington, Wanda Merritt of Jacksonville, FL, Janice "Patty" Jeffries of Clifton Forge, Doris Reynolds of Clifton Forge, Anita Rooseti of Jacksonville, FL and Lorrie Wolfe of Covington; fifteen grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Robert Elmore and wife, Mary and two special nieces, Robin and Diane.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wilcher was preceded in death by seven brothers, Fred Caldwell, Cecil Caldwell, Frank Caldwell, Lewis Caldwell, Wilbur Knighton, Dora Caldwell and Gordon Caldwell; four sisters, Zella Hyler, Pauline Elmore, Dorothy Sizemore and Daisy Caldwell; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; and a daughter-in-law.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Bolen officiating. Interment was made in Lone Star Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Spencer Sartain, Lee Sartain, Shawn Sartain, Steve Sizemore, Doc Sizemore, Jason Fridley, David Thompson, Jr. and David Thompson, Sr.

The family received friends Monday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
