Karen Dean Penick, 62, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Penick was born September 12, 1949 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late McKinley H. Dean and Ellen Tita Dean.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D. Allen Penick; son, Daniel Penick, and a brother, Herald A. Dean.

Karen was a graduate of Randolph Macon College and worked as a paralegal in Lexington.

Karen was an avid lover of animals.

Surviving is her brother, Henry A. Dean of Strasburg and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday April 25, 2012 at New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington VA.
