William Bascom (Bill) Staton Sr., 87, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

He was born on December 18, 1924, in Amherst, the son of the late Matthew Staton and Sally Hartless Staton.

Mr. Staton was a member of the First Brethren Church in Buena Vista.

Surviving him are his wife, Patsy Fox Staton; his son, Billy Staton Jr. and wife, Davida; grandchildren, Courtney Pugh, Matt Staton, and Jordan Larew; a brother, Lonnie Staton; sisters, Thelma Martin, Estelle Eller, Lois Isley, and Lucilla Trent.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the First Brethren Church, Buena Vista with the Rev. W. David Bain and Trooper Michael Hamilton, and the Rev. Christian Becker officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel. 540-261-5510.
