Jo Ellen Reader Lane, age 77, of 2700 Valley Ridge Road, Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her residence.

She was born November 5, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Frederick Lloyd Reader and Florence Southwell Reader.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and attended Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Lane in August of 2011.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Reader and wife, Joyce of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law, Jean Ferguson of Evansville, IN; two nieces, Cheryl Sikes of Evansville, IN and Lori Weir of Orlando, FL; two nephews, Dr. Chad Reader of Denver, CO and Bruce Reader of Racine, WI; great niece and great nephews, Shelly Reader, Dakota Sikes, Miles Reader, and Grant Reader; and her special friends, Betty Walthall and her family of Valley Ridge, Covington.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. The family will receive friends at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton St, Covington, VA 24426.
