Evelyn Louise Balser (Petie) Mason, 82, of Lexington, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at University of Virginia Hospital.

Born March 10, 1930 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Balser and Linnie Rice Balser and was raised by the late Arthur Mack Bryant.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Pratt Mason, Sr. and by siblings, Babe Woody and Billy Balser.

Surviving are her children, John Pratt Mason, Jr., Bryant Mason, and Randolph Mason, all of Lexington; Christopher Mason of Richmond; Rosa Mason Weeks of Lexington; grandchildren, Richard, Tyler, Marie, Mack, Laura, Sara, Molly, Danielle, and Caroline.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow and the Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
