Helen Clemmer Ruley, 80, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Benjamin Borden Healthcare Center in Lexington.

She was born July 25, 1931 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Emmett Mowbray Clemmer and Mary Thomas Clemmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elsworth Ruley, and a son, Robert Wayne Ruley.

Helen was a member of the Ebenezer A.R.P. Church, secretary for Ruley Gulf, and was a LPN at Stonewall Jackson Hospital for ten years.

Surviving are her two sons, Larry Allen Ruley and wife, Susie of Pennington Gap, VA; Charles (Eddie) Ruley and wife, Debi, of Lexington; two sisters, Mary Emore Swink of Lexington and Gertrude Baber of Sandston; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Chad Hostetter (Amy) and their children, Caleb and MaKinlee; Jarrod L. Ruley; Kari (Bill) Southers and their children, Landon and Sydney; Erica K. Ruley and her son, Peyton; special niece, Mazzie Staton; special sister-in-law, Mattie "Snowball" Ruley; two loving nieces, Bonnie Tomlinson and Mary Jane Mutispaugh; and other special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Nix officiating. Burial will follow at Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer A.R.P. Church or Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery.
