James Pittman Boyd Sr., 89, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Thursday, May 31, 2012.

Born February 6, 1923 in Charles Town, WV, he was a son of the late Clarence N. Boyd and Nellie Rodes Boyd of Bassett, VA.

James was a member of the Glasgow Presbyterian Church and currently High Bridge Presbyterian Church and loved attending Wednesday morning prayer group.

Mr. Boyd served his country in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Glasgow Masonic Lodge #233, James Evans Masonic Lodge #72, and was the president of the Roanoke Valley Motel Association.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Woods Lewis Boyd of Natural Bridge Station; children, James P. Boyd, Jr. of Culpeper; Phillip E. Boyd and wife, Judi of NC; Barbara Ann Boyd of Roanoke; two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason M. Grimes officiating. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
