Linda Joan Young, 42, of Raphine, Virginia, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Hospice Home in Burlington, North Carolina.

Born May 19, 1970 in Sydney, Australia, she was the third daughter of John Martin Black and Joan Parker Black.

Linda was a member of the Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church.

She also was a registered nurse at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, where she worked in the cardiac rehabilitation department for five years.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, John; four children, Caitlin, Christopher, Eric, and Parker, all of Raphine; three sisters, Joanne Lemmo of California; Susan Yearling of Indiana; Helen Black of New York.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Carl Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge A.R.P. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018. In addition, a scholarship fund will be set up for the children, please contact the family for details.

The family will receive friends at 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
