Vietnam War Medic Dies At Age 59

Charles Randolph (Randy) Austin, 59, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Sunday June 3, 2012 at his home.

Born August 8, 1952 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Charles Henry Austin and Violet Wilcher Austin.

Charles was a loving husband, father and a caring person who served his country as a medic in the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Virginia H. "Ginny" Austin; his children, Jason Austin and girlfriend, Sarah Coffey, and Jamie Austin, all of Natural Bridge Station; brothers, Buddy E. Austin and wife, Helen, of Buena Vista; Danny R. Austin and wife, Bonnie; Thomas D. Austin and wife, Sheree; a sister, Regina Faye Walker, all of Natural Bridge Station; a step-brother, Kevin Smith, and step-sister, Melissa Smith, both of Glasgow; and a faithful canine friend, Scrappy.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Milliner officiating. Burial will follow at Milliner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday June 5, 2012.
