Obituary for May Nixon Stinson May Nixon Stinson
Buena Vista Resident Dies At Age 94

May Nixon Stinson, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2012 in Golden Living Center, Buena Vista, VA.

Born February 26, 1918 in Midway Mills, VA of Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Joseph and Annie Moxley Nixon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Burton Stinson; twin sister, Mildred Gearhart; her oldest sister, Dorothy Smiley, and her only brother, Franklin Nixon.

May moved to Glasgow with her family in 1921, where she graduated from Glasgow High School, worked at Burlington Industries and attended St. John's Episcopal Church.

Surviving are three nephews, Leroy Smiley, Sam Nixon, John Nixon and one niece, Pam Coleman; and many great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 in Glasgow Cemetery with Rev. John Furgerson officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
