Homemaker Worshipped With Living Stones Ministries

Helen Louise Young Simmons, age 81, of 3614 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, formerly of Iron Gate, Virginia, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her residence.

Born May 17, 1931 in Covington, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Owen Henry and Ruby Elizabeth Mitchell Young.

She was a homemaker throughout her life. She worshipped with the family of Living Stones Ministries, where she enjoyed the Senior Bible Study Class. She enjoyed cross stitch, needlework, and loved spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Owen Young and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Young Nicely.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Abraham J. Simmons, Jr. of Clifton Forge; two sons, Jonathan Lee and wife, Frances Kanney Simmons of Clifton Forge, and Roger Owen Simmons of Troutville; two granddaughters, Sharon Leigh Simmons and husband, SFC Travis Eric Blanchard of Colorado Springs, CO, and Krista Nicole Simmons of Surfside, SC; a grandson, BM3 Jonathan Wesley Simmons and wife, Crystal Gum Simmons of Victoria, TX; one great grandchild, Tristan Daire Blanchard, and a great grandchild due July 4, Avery Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Living Stones Ministries Church with Pastor Mike Rollins officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The men of Living Stones Ministries will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
