Former Clifton Forge Dairy Queen Cook, Cashier, Dies At Age 65

Patricia Ann Wilcher Groves, age 65, of 800 W. Ridgeway Street, Apt 409, Ridgeview Apartments, Scott Hill, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at her residence.

She was born June 11, 1947 in Rich Patch, Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Floyd O. and Mildred Wilcher Brown.

She was a cook and cashier for Dairy Queen of Clifton Forge, and worked there for fifteen years.

She was a member of Midway Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Adam Lee Groves; two brothers, James Douglas Brown and Floyd Odell "Poochie" Brown, Jr.; a sister, Debra Lynn Brown; and a special friend, Meredith "Mutt" Tingler, Sr.

She is survived by a daughter, Tina Lawhorn and husband, William of Covington; a son, Gregory Alan Groves and fiance, Teresa House, and her son, Josh of Orlando, FL; a brother, Tracy Allen Brown and fiance, Kathy Brown of Clifton Forge; three grandchildren, Adam Lee Groves, Jr., James Douglas Groves, and Emily Ann Lawhorn and fiance, Travis Bowen; a great grandchild, William Scott Bowen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Paul Lavender, Danny Little, Charlie Collins, Donnie Lawhorn, Travis Bowen, and Homer Warren. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
