Bernard Franklin Butler Jr., 85, of Lexington, Virginia, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born November 9, 1926, in Pennsylvania, a son of the late Bernard Franklin Butler Sr. and Elizabeth Gilmore Rozier.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lesley Carter Butler.

Mr. Butler was a member of the Randolph St. Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are one son, Bernard F. Butler III, of Lexington; one sister-in-law, Nadine Hubbard of Natural Bridge; special nephew, Michael Hunt; along with other nephews and one niece.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
