Obituary for Jackie G. Camden Jackie G. Camden
U.S. Army Veteran Worked with VDOT For 30 Years

Jackie Gilmore Camden, 84, of Lexington, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Heritage Hall.

Born May 22, 1928, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Susan Carolina Camden Jarvis..

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Darris E. Jarvis; two brothers, Earl F. Jarvis and Marshal T. Kelly..

Jackie was a member of the Timber Ridge Old Stone Church, a veteran of the United States Army, and graduated from Fairfield High School.

Jackie retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years of service..

Surviving are his siblings, Nancy Lee Kerr, of Lexington, Mary Jane Emore, of Waynesboro, Thomas D. Jarvis and wife, Mary Alice, of Goodview; two sisters-in-law, Suzanne B. Jarvis, of Logan, W.Va.; Estelle Kelly, of Baltimore, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews..

A special thanks to Heritage Hall, Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Rockbridge Area Hospice, and Dr. James Crews for all of the care given to him during his illness..

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial to follow at Timber Ridge A.R.P. Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
