Bruce Hale Herrick, 76, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born May 29, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minn., he was a son of the late Wallace Dunbar Herrick and Ruth Hale Herrick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Herrick, and one sister, Carolyn Herrick.

Bruce was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and was a retired professor with Washington & Lee University.

Surviving are his wife, Dianne W. Herrick, of Lexington; children, Robert Wallace Herrick and wife, Kay Gallagher, of San Jose, Calif., Susan H. Cornish and husband, Robert, of San Francisco, Calif., Andrew Hale Herrick and wife, Julie Anne, of Palmyra; siblings, Roger Herrick of Seattle, Wash., Jeanne Herrick-Stare, of Washington, D.C., Stuart Herrick, of Missouri; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Lexington Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Klein officiating. A reception will follow at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lexington Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
