Obituary for Myrtle Young Little Myrtle Young Little
Lifelong Educator Dies At Age 98

Myrtle Young Little, age 98, of Sunnyside Healthcare in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and formerly of 620 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, July 11, 2012 at Sunnyside Healthcare.

She was born September 10, 1913 in Asheville, NC, to the late Albert Delong Little and Stella Young Little.

She graduated from Harrisonburg Teachers College, now known as James Madison University, in 1936 with an elementary education degree.

A lifelong educator, Miss Little had a 43 year career that began with teaching in Brevard, NC and Samford, NC, before becoming an elementary school teacher, and later retiring as principal at Selma and Boiling Springs Schools.

She was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, and very active in other church activities.

She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Organization of Key Teachers and the Clifton Forge Women's Club.

She is survived by cousins Mamie and Hugh Nicholson of Statesville, NC, and Marshall and Cheryl Dewell of Mableton, GA.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family received friends at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. An additional memorial service will be conducted in the chapel at Sunnyside Healthcare in Harrisonburg for her friends there on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
