Lexington Resident Was Good Shepherd Community Church Member

Frances Fitzgerald McCormick, 84, of Lexington, Virginia, died on Monday, July 30, 2012, at her home.

She was born on January 14, 1928, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Woody Fitzgerald and Berty Fridley Fitzgerald.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston McCormick; and one son, Ronald K. McCormick.

Mrs. McCormick was a member of the Good Shepherd Community Church. Frances loved cooking, working with her flowers, and gardening.

Surviving are her children, Preston H. McCormick, of Buena Vista, Va., Sherman H. McCormick, of Buchanan, Va., and Linda Fay Windley, of Layton, Utah; three sisters, Margaret Silvea, of Raphine, Va., Virginia Benson, of Lexington, Va., and Mildred Lloyd, of Mint Springs, Va.; one brother, Marvin Fitzgerald, of Glasgow, Va.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012, at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Odell Humphries and the Rev. David Heim officiating. The family will receive friends at 329 Flower Lane at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450.
