Obituary for Chester Wayne Anderson Chester Wayne Anderson
Bath County Native Was Longtime Logger, Covington Resident

Mr. Chester Wayne Anderson, age 59, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at LewisGale Hospital, Salem after a very brief illness.

Mr. Anderson was born March 20, 1953 in Bath County, the son of the late Roy Wanaker Anderson and Edna Gilbert Anderson.

Wayne was employed as a logger for a number of years before being injured in a car accident. He later graduated from Woodrow Wilson School of Business and attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College from 1986 until 1989, where he received his Associate's Degree in Business Administration. Wayne had worked a number of years as a bookkeeper for Ayers Laundry and later became the activities director for the Brian Center in Low Moor. He had also worked for the Blue Ridge Independent Living Center in the satellite office at Alleghany Regional Hospital until his health would no longer permit him to do so.

Wayne was a people person, loved to talk to everyone and never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors and hunted with his brothers and nephews until this became too big a chore for him. He loved to go boating on Lake Moomaw, fishing, go camping and watching wildlife.

Mr. Anderson is survived by two daughters, Lori Frum and Jennifer Buzzard, both of Marlinton, WV; one brother, Gordon Anderson of Marlinton, WV; two sisters, Cheryl Persinger and husband, Robert of Hot Springs Road and Millie Jones and husband, Bobby of Covington; two half-brothers, Clarence Anderson of Covington and Roy Anderson, Jr. of Minnehaha Springs, WV; one half-sister, Anigail Terry of Bolar; three nephews, Tyler Persinger, Brian Balser and Bailey Jones; and three nieces, Taylor Persinger, Ashlei Balser and Cristin Lewis; and devoted friend, Dr. David Crandall.

In addition to his parents, Roy Wanaker Anderson and Edna Gilbert Anderson, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Keith Anderson; two half-brothers, Clyde Anderson and William "Bill" Anderson; a very special friend, William "Wild Bill" Hobbs; and a beloved pet, Sheba.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Balser, Robert Persinger, Tyler Persinger, Jason Hayslett, and Josh Craft.

Honorary pallbearer will be Gerald Persinger.
