Vietnam Veteran Was USPS Employee

Gerald Louis (Perch) McMillion, age 62, of Salem, Virginia, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his residence.

He was born April 13, 1950 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to Michael B. "Mickey" and Kathleen Taylor McMillion of Clifton Forge.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was employed with the United States Postal Service.

He was a life member of the Elliston VFW and a member of the Salem Coin Club.

He loved to shoot pool and go to flea markets.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles M. McMillion in 2000.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Janet Anglin and husband Larry, and Kathie McMillion-Helms, both of Covington; a brother, Darryl McMillion of Clifton Forge; three special nieces; three special nephews; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by members of the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. Active pallbearers will be Elwood Deisher, Jimmy Childs, Rusty Crance, Jeff Downey, Andy Bostic, Greg Wood, Kenny M. Huffman, Denny Fitzgerald, Gary Brooks and Carl Furry. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Nicely, Randy Lowman, Kenny Lowman, and Tony VanNess.

The family received friends on Saturday evening at Nicely Funeral Home.
