Janis Ann Hoke Dressler, age 76, of 1726 Beckys Place in Roanoke, Virginia, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

Janis was born May 19, 1936 in Lexington, Virginia to the late Paul B. and Ruby Evelyn Raines Hoke.

She graduated from the Chesapeake and Ohio School of Nursing as a registered nurse, and was a former nursing instructor there as well. She was also a former Director of Nursing at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.

She retired with over 45 years in nursing.

She enjoyed her birds and flowers and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was of the Presbyterian faith.

She is survived by her husband, Frank A. Dressler, Jr. of Roanoke; a daughter, Aletha Dressler of Burlington, NC; two sons, Lloyd B. Wills and wife, Vicki, and Frank Dressler, III and wife, Sherri, all of Roanoke; five granddaughters, Courtney Barger, Julia Bowman, Rachel Dressler, Jordan Dressler, and Emily Dressler; and a number of cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Preston Sartelle officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens in Botetourt County. Pallbearers will be selected from friends attending the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
