Obituary for Dwight Myers McCormack Dwight Myers McCormack
Dwight Myers McCormack, 80, of Daleville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012.

He was a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church.

He served in the United States Navy from October 23, 1952 to October 18, 1956. He retired from Ingersol Rand with 38 years of service.

He was known to all the kids as Pappy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Tucker McCormack; his parents, Carlyle and Vada McCormack; and sister, Carletta McCormack.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue McCormack; daughter, Tammy Thompson and husband, Steve; son, Dwight M. McCormack II (Corky); grandchildren, Whitney M. Bean and husband, Justin, Ellen Thornsberry (Cricket) and husband, Eric, Steven Thompson and Kevin Thompson, Brett McCormack and Travis McCormack; special friends, Brad Hollins, Holly Bean and Sandy Gilbert.

The family received friends on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Rev. John Reynolds officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by members of the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. The family received friends one hour before the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
