Dorothy Elizabeth Hughes, 86, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Rocky Mount.

Born April 2, 1926, in Weyers Cave, she was a daughter of the late Theodore K. Glover and Dorothy Hampton Glover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Rodney Hughes.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, retired from Washington & Lee University, and was the past Grand Secretary of the Pythians of the United States and Canada.

Surviving are her children, Sharon Martin; Judy Davis, both of Lexington; Rodney Hughes, of Ferrum; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
