Obituary for Mark Alan Keith Mark Alan Keith
Alleghany High School Teacher Was Longtime Coach

Mark Alan Keith, age 46, of 1903 Glen Wilton Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia, died early Saturday morning September 15, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born in Pennsboro, West Virginia, on April 22, 1966, a son of Betty Hudkins Doan.

Mark was a current Tech Education teacher at Alleghany High School in the Alleghany Highlands Public School System.

He was a graduate of Fairmont State University and received a degree in Education. He was very active coach in the Alleghany schools, coaching soccer, football, volleyball, and boys' and girls' basketball. He also coached AAU and recreational league teams and was a driver education instructor.

He was a big supporter of West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineers.

He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Susan Griffith Keith of Eagle Rock; his mother, Betty Hudkins Doan and step father, Randy Doan of Parkersburg, West Virginia; 2 daughters, A.J. Keith and Morgan Keith, both at home; a brother, Brian Keith and wife, Michelle of Morgantown, West Virginia; a niece, Hayden Keith; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is also survived by special mother and father-in-law, Jennifer and Frank Owens of Eagle Rock, and Mike Griffith of Clifton Forge.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Howard and Nadine Hudkins.

A visitation for the family to receive friends will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.

There will be no funeral service. In keeping with his wishes, the body will be cremated following the visitation.

Mark was a participant of the LifeNet of Virginia donor program. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association; attention Joy Weeks, Memorial Chairperson, 2212 Dressler Drive, Covington, Va. 24426 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Headquarters, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, Arizona 85718.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.
