Clifton Forge Native Worked With Parker Industries, Halmode Apparel

Betty Sue McCoy Adcock, age 66, of 802 Park Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at her residence.

She was born December 28, 1945 in Clifton Forge to the late Clarence Raymond McCoy and Hazel Thompson McCoy Cook.

Betty was a retired inspector for Parker Industries of Iron Gate and had also worked for Halmode Apparel as a seamstress.

She was a member of Glen Wilton United Methodist Church and in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Glen Wilton Fire Department.

She loved her grandsons and her cat, Tanner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Elwood Adcock, and a step father, Lester Raymond Cook.

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Bowling and husband, Chad of Covington; a sister, Carolyn Hayslett and husband, Bernie of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Ray McCoy and wife, Nancy of Covington, and Cecil McCoy and wife, Becky of Jarrett; her grandsons, Nicholas Dale-James Bowling and Bryan Austin Bowling; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Ray Sandifer officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Bottom Cemetery, Botetourt County. Pallbearers will be Randy Wolfe, Freddie Brackenridge, Bryan Buchanan, Wayne Grimm, and Bobby Buchanan.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. .
