Lyle Daulton Ramsey, 87, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at his home.

He was born on October 2, 1925, a son of the late Samuel E. Ramsey and Gertie Allen Ramsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Watkins Ramsey; daughter, Judith Ramsey Wilmore; son-in-law, Robert "Snookie" Stinnett; brothers and sisters, Sarah Mae Wiggleton, Russel Ramsey, Edward Ramsey, Betty Smals, and Charles Ramsey; and grandsons, Jesse A. Young and Gareth Young.

Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Beth Horon Methodist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries after many years of service.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Sharon R. Sorrels and James, of Troutville, Margaret R. Stinnett, of Buena Vista, Jonathan L. Ramsey and Esther, of Natural Bridge Station, Carla Young and Chris, of Montpelier, Joel C. Ramsey and Bobbi, of Buena Vista, Bruce E. Ramsey of Buena Vista, and Jimmy Wilmore and Shelia, of Natural Bridge. Also surviving are his 15 grandchildren, Sarah Meads (Shane), Jamie Sorrels, Justin Wilmore, Katie Ramsey, Tammy Stinnett, Joshua Ramsey (Melinda), Jeremy Ramsey, Allison Young, Roscoe Young, Amanda Ramsey, Cameron Ramsey, Brandi Clark, Brody Ramsey, Lauren Ramsey, and Tyler Ramsey; two great grandchildren, Maggie Meads and Sydney Taylor; a life-long friend, Ike Humphries; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jay Thorne officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, Va., 540-261-5510.
