Obituary for Mary Persinger Harlow Mary Persinger Harlow
Former Mizzy CFP, Also Worked With Boys' Home

Mary Persinger Harlow, age 80, of 1401 Concord Street, Selma, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at The Brian Center in Low Moor, Virginia.

She was born May 28, 1932 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late E. L. and Zerelda Arrington Persinger.

She was a retired CFO of Mizzy, Inc. and retired business manager and CFO for Boy's Home.

She was the treasurer of the Central High School Class of 1949, which was a passion in her life, and organizer and treasurer of the Lucy Gleason Scholarship Fund, now managed by DSLCC.

She had deep roots and commitment to the former employees of Mizzy, leading her to organize the "Friends and Family of Mizzy's".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronald L. Evans.

She is survived by her husband, Charles T. Harlow, Jr. of Selma; two daughters, Carolyn H. Evans of Kannapolis, NC, and Wanda Harlow Simpson and husband Glen Ray "Jack" Simpson of Clifton Forge; two son, Charles T. Harlow III of Clifton Forge, and E. J. Harlow and wife, MaryLouise of Rich Patch; a sister, Reba P. Cartwright of Covington; a brother, E. L. Persinger, Jr. and wife, Imojean of Rich Patch; four grandchildren, Charles T. "Chuck" Harlow IV, Jennifer Lee Simpson, Joseph Ray Simpson, and E. J. Harlow II; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Mountain Valley United Methodist Church, Rich Patch with Reverend Lee Ray Tucker and Reverend Lee Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

Active pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be Carden Saville, Eddie Austin, Gene Humphries, John Craft, Jr., Charles Persinger, Donnie Wheatley, Billy Rice, Brian Jefferson, Buford Brown, Harry Newman, and T. J. Humphries. The family received friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contribution to Mountain Valley United Methodist Church, 5316 Hayes Gap Road, Covington, VA 24426, or the Lucy Gleason Scholarship Fund, C/O Educational Foundation DSLCC, P.
