Global Stone Retiree Was Skilled Maintenance Worker

Frank Allen Dunbar, Sr., age 63, of Wood Town Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

He was born May 13, 1949 in the Baldwin area of Botetourt County, Virginia, to the late Kenneth Cessler Dunbar, Sr. and Bessie Miller Dunbar.

Frank was a hard working man who lived his whole life in the "Holler" in Glen Wilton.

He retired as a maintenance worker/mill operator for Global Stone after 25 years.

He enjoyed working hard, fishing and hunting, riding four wheelers, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was a good husband and father.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Haden Dunbar, Kenneth C. Dunbar, Jr., Edith Noble, and Maxine McCulley; and a grandchild, Cara Elizabeth Dunbar.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Rita McGaha Dunbar of Eagle Rock; two daughters, Melissa Dunbar Drennen and husband, Eric, and Amanda D. Linkenhoker and husband, Carl; three sons, Frank A. Dunbar, Jr. and girlfriend, Cora Smith, James C. Dunbar and wife, Tonya, and Christopher E. Dunbar and wife, Georginna; former daughter-in-law, Samantha Ramsey; four sisters, Betty Hyler and husband, Glen, Ella Jeffries and husband, Montie, Barbara McGaha and husband, James, and Jewel Watkins; three brothers, Johnny Dunbar, Jimmy Dunbar, and Michael Dunbar and wife, Peggy; a brother-in-law, Mark McGaha; fifteen grandchildren, Amber, Hayley, and Cedric Drennen, Randall Deschler, Lindsay, Carmen, Gavin, Kyle, Mylee, Jonathan, Faith, Juliana, and Braeden Dunbar, Seth Reid, and Emma Linkenhoker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roger Bush officiating. In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Melissa and Eric Drennen, 513 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, VA.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Davita Dialysis Center, 2504 Valley Ridge Road, Covington, VA 24426.
