Obituary for Donnie Wayne Via Donnie Wayne Via
Covington Resident Was Former Marine, Calvary Christian Church Member

Mr. Donnie Wayne Via, age 59, of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, October 26, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Sylvia Tolley Via.

Mr. Via was born March 6, 1953 in Covington, the son of Nancy Via Moss and the late Elwood Franklin Via.

He has served his country as a Sergeant in the United State Marine Corps.

Mr. Via was a member of Calvary Christian Church.

He was an avid runner, loved to be outdoors and was a classic car and gun enthusiast.

In addition to his wife, Sylvia, Donnie is survived by his daughter, Summer Via Byer and husband, Timmy; two brothers, J. R. Via and wife, Sheila and Gary Via and wife, Tina; three sisters, Marsha Tucker and husband, Frankie, Debbie Via, Cricket Andrews and husband, Butch; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Graveside rites by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be Gary Fridley, Warren Kegley, Steve Ayers, Bobby Hosey, Cody Brown, Bruce Porterfield, Dave Ergenbright and Ray Livick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Burton Dameron, Hershel Andrews, Bobby Insley, Bill Wood and Victor Cucci.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Summer and Timmy Byer, 706 W. Fudge Street, Covington.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Calvary Christian Church, 1303 S. Pond Avenue, Covington, VA 24426 or the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
