Ruby Humphreys Burks, 72, of Covington, passed away, Saturday , November 3, 2012 at The Woodlands in Clifton Forge.

She was born January 26, 1940 in Covington, a daughter of the late Curtis C. Humphreys and Carrie Heim Humphreys Benson.

Mrs. Burks had retired from the Garden Center and as a Door Greeter at Wal-Mart. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Herman L. ÒBusterÓ Burks of Covington; one daughter and son- in law, Kim and Randy Simmons of Vinton; one son and daughter in law, Curtis and Desiree Spath of Harrisburg, AK; two step daughters, Kathy and Rodney Stump of Midlothian and Pam Johnson of Newport News; a number grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Gay Plymale of Lynchburg; nieces, nephews and her dog Molly.

The family will receive their friends from 11:30 until 12:30 p.m.at the Arritt Funeral Home on Wednesday.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating, assisted by the Rev. Buck Caldwell.
