Obituary for Cedric Richard Rhodes Cedric Richard Rhodes
Former Fincastle Resident Was Lawrence Transfer/Rusco Employee, National Guard Member

Cedric Richard Rhodes, 60, of 800 West Ridgeway Street, Scott Hill, Clifton Forge, Virginia, formerly of Fincastle died Friday, November 9, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on May 31, 1952, a son of Lucille Caldwell Rhodes of Troutville and the late John Thomas Rhodes.

He was retired from Lawrence Transfer/ Rusco of Roanoke.

Cedric loved music and enjoyed football. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loreen Elizabeth Rhodes.

He is survived by his mother, Lucille Caldwell Rhodes of Troutville; a sister, Patricia Haymaker of Clifton Forge; a brother, John Rhodes and his wife, Eleanor of Moneta; nieces and nephews, Sheryl Hall and husband Greg, Tam Harvie and husband, Edwin, Karen Carter and husband, Steve, Kathy Lee and husband, Chuck and T.E. Haymaker and, wife Amy; great nieces and great nephews, Meredith, Madison and Stephen Carter, Carah and Lewis Harvie, Patricia, Elizabeth and Nicholas Lee, and Jackson and Sawyer Haymaker; a number of cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Donna Sams officiating. Interment will be made at a later date in the Mount Union Cemetery, Botetourt County.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Ronald McDonald House, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling the arrangements.
