Obituary for Vera Leona Harlow McGuire Vera Leona Harlow McGuire
Former Dollar General Manager Was Alleghany County Native

Vera Leona Harlow McGuire, age 48, of 213 Second Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

She was born December 10, 1963 in Alleghany County, Virginia to James Madison Harlow and Virginia Mae "Jenny" Hayslett Harlow.

She was a former manager for the Dollar General store in Clifton Forge, and a member of the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose

She was of the Presbyterian faith.

In addition to her father, James Harlow of Clifton Forge, and his special friend, Barbara Collins, and her mother, Virginia "Jenny" Harlow of Clifton Forge, she is survived by her husband, Danny Ray McGuire of Clifton Forge; a son, Jesse Lee McGuire of Burlington, NC; two sisters, Donna Harlow Wilson and husband, Freddie, and Karen Harlow Mitchell and her special friend, Jerry McClung, all of Eagle Rock; two brothers, James Bruce Harlow of Clifton Forge, and Robert Allen Harlow and wife, Jill of Millboro; three grandchildren, Alexis McGuire, Aidan Hoke, and Alex Gwin; a number of nieces and nephews; close friends, David Smith, Susan Scruggs, David and Nancy Harris, and Cindy Nicely; and her special companion, Lazy.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Locust Bottom Cemetery, Botetourt County.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
