Obituary for Glenn Clinton (Clint) Spencer Glenn Clinton (Clint) Spencer
Covington Resident Was Army Veteran, Pine Street Baptist Church Member

Mr. Glenn Clinton (Clint) Spencer, age 57, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Clint was born March 10, 1955 in Covington, the son of the late Robert Lewis Spencer, Sr. and Hortense Ross Spencer.

He graduated from Covington High School.

He worked several jobs in the area before joining the U.S. Army. After returning home, Clint worked several jobs until he was disabled.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and attending to his roses. He had a quick smile and a teasing way. Clint loved telling jokes and short stories. He loved his family and was a helping hand and was a jack of all trades around the house.

Clint was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, where he took great joy serving as a usher. He was a Washington Redskins fan in the middle of many Dallas Cowboy fans. Clint did not sing, but he sure could whistle.

He leaves three brothers, Calvin Spencer of the home, Peter Spencer of Roanoke, Daniel and Virginia Spencer of Portsmouth; a sister, Yolanda "Dilly" Spencer and fiance, Don Osborne of Covington; one niece and two nephews, one aunt, Dorothy Ross of Washington, DC; two uncles, Lorenzo Ross and Pearson Ross of Covington; a special friend, Judy Shipp of Covington; along with many cousins and close friends.

Clint is preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Hortense R. Spencer and father, Robert L. Spencer, Sr.; five brothers, Terry Spencer, Edward Spencer, David Spencer, Wayne Spencer and Robert L. Spencer, Jr.

Clint will be missed by all those who knew him. We wish to thank the doctor and nurses of LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany Emergency Room for their professional care. A special thank you to Lexington, VA Carillion LifeGuard 10. To UVA Hospital, 3rd floor ICU and 6th Floor Neuro ICU, we thank you. Mrs. Gale Washington, God bless you and thank you so much. We thank our family, friends, co-workers and church family for your prayers and support.

A memorial service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at Pine Street Baptist Church with Rev. M.T. Barnette officiating.

The family will receive friends any time at the home on 528 Dewey Street, Covington, VA 24426.
