David Lee Bates, 59, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Bates was born on January 21, 1953, in Rockbridge County, the son of Gladys Huffman Bates and the late Charlie Lee Bates.

Mr. Bates is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Bates Javidan and son-in-law, Farid Javidan of Buena Vista; a son, Travis Bates and daughter-in-law, Ashley, both of Natural Bridge; sister, Donna Tomlin and husband, Larry of Spartanburg, S.C.; brother Joseph Bates Sr., of Buena Vista; and four grandchildren, Adro Javidan, Candace Bates, Amber Bates and Dustin Bates.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November, 24, 2012, at Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday November 24, 2012, at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.
