Was Dedicated "Lunch Lady" At Moody School

Frances Bernice Noel Mahaney, 83, of 604 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born June 12, 1929, in Alleghany County, a daughter of Benjamin Harrison Noel and Eva Virginia Clark Noel.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. For 39 years, Frances was a caring and dedicated "lunch lady" at Moody School. She loved music and for many years was a member of the Tri-County Cloggers and is a past member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack L. Mahaney in November of 2000; a brother, John A. Noel; three sisters, Marie Hayslett, Irene Bryan, and Margaret Unroe; and a niece, Violet Shaffer.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Mac Williamson, of Fincastle, and Marilynne and Ricky Meadows, of Iron Gate Hill; five grandchildren, Justin Williamson, Carrie Williamson, Mari Allison Meadows, Billy Meadows, and Ben Meadows; two great-grandchildren, Logan Williamson and Katelynn Furry; two sisters, Nora Webb and Loretta Putnam, both of Clifton Forge; a special cousin, Ruth Gibson of Ivy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Patricia Henderson, Dr. Jeff Henderson, nurses, Peggy Ware-Harper, Diane Perdue, and Ellen Fischer, home health aide Cathy Bowen, and private sitters, Susan Nicely and Sherry Fridley.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Elder Basil Sampson and Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
