Obituary for Violet Steel Thompson Violet Steel Thompson
Worked With NB Elementary School, Thompson's Green House For 25 Years

Violet Steel Thompson, 81, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Runk-Pratt Memory Care Unit.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Buena Vista, August 25, 1931, the daughter of the late Wallace Ward Steele and Ethel Nuckols Steele.

She was an active member of High Bridge Presbyterian Church at Natural Bridge. She was a member of the Glasgow Garden Club for many years.

Mrs. Thompson Worked at Natural Bridge Elementary School for 24 years and also assisted her husband at Thompson's Green House for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evans Leigh Thompson, who died in 1998.

She is survived by one son, Larry Evans Thompson and wife, Donna, of Forest; one daughter, Brenda Thompson Chaplin and husband, Bill; three grandchildren, Tonya Thompson Scott and husband, Greg, of Forest, Daniel Evans Thompson and wife, Sherri, of Rocky Mt., Travis Leigh Chaplin, of Rockbridge Baths; great-grandchildren, Taylor Ashley Scott, Brian Thompson, and Haley Thompson.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at High Bridge Church Presbyterian Church 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, by the Rev. Jason Grimes. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Central & Western Chapter, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke VA 24015.

The cremated remains of her and her husband will be buried together privately at High Bridge Presbyterian Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
