Obituary for Anna Lorena (Rena) Wilmer Anna Lorena (Rena) Wilmer
Covington Resident Was Active Granbery United Methodist Church Member

Anna Lorena (Rena) Wilmer, age 85, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Emeritus Assisted Living, Richmond.

She was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Clarke.

Born September 9, 1927 in Covington, Rena graduated from Covington High School in 1945.

She was married to Milton C. Wilmer in 1947 and they lived together in Covington until his death in 2005. She later moved to Bumpass, VA to be with her children.

Rena worked several jobs in her lifetime including being a clerk for the Courtesy Store, a secretary for Attorney Hale Collins, a clerk for J.C. Penney's, and a secretary for the Mountain State Construction Company at Back Creek during the Army Corps of Engineers/Gathright Dam Project.

Her favorite job though was being a wife and mom.

Rena was an active member of Granbery United Methodist Church.

She loved to travel to North Myrtle Beach every summer with her husband and all the family.

Rena is survived by two children, Linda Wilmer Carter and husband, Vernon of Midlothian and Glenn T. Wilmer of Bumpass; one grandson, Joseph Carter and wife, Laura of Cummings, GA; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Clarke of Hot Springs and Tommy Clarke of Richmond; and three sisters, Betty Stull, Barbara Flint and Joyce Knighton, all of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilmer was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Clarke and John J. Clarke and one sister, Peggy Crawford.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Throckmorton officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
