Obituary for James Edward Craft, Sr. James Edward Craft, Sr.
World War II Vetrean Was Retired Westvaco Instrument Mechanic

James Edward Craft, Sr., 92, of 1521 Mountain View Drive, Covington, Virginia, passed away quietly at his home March 17, 2013.

He was born April 8, 1920 in Craig County, a son of the James Phillip and Ada Florence Humphries Craft.

Mr. Craft served with the United States Army during World War II, obtaining the rank of Corporal and earning the Bronze Star while serving in the Pacific Theater.

He retired from Westvaco as an instrument mechanic in 1985 after 35 years of employment.

Mr. Craft was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Percy Craft and Arless Craft and also by one sister, Frances Bradshaw.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Wanda Dale Craft of Covington; four children, Sandra Pinnell and her husband, Robert of Roanoke; James Edward Craft, Jr. and his wife, Alice of Vinton; Susan D. Craft of Alexandria and Phillip M. Craft and his wife, Gayle of Covington; five grandchildren, Kelly Buckle and her husband, Rick of Easton, MD; Lauren Shelor and her husband, Brian of Salem ; Megan Lucado and her husband, Chase of Salem; James P. Craft of Roanoke and Alexander G. Craft of Alexandria; two great grandchildren, Jakson Lucado and Kash Lucado, both of Salem; two sisters, Rebecca Bradshaw and Mary Reynolds, both of Covington; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland, assisted by the Rev. Chuck Cole.

The family will receive their friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home. Entombment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park with Military Rites being conducted by the Curtis A Smith Post 1033, VFW.
