Covington Native Worked With Funeral Homes, Glassner's Jewelry Store

Mr. Arnold Alexander Hostetter, Jr., age 71, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Woodlands, Clifton Forge, VA.

Arnold was born May 23, 1941 in Covington, the son of the late Arnold Alexander Hostetter, Sr. and Phoebe Knick Hostetter.

He was a lifetime member of this community and a graduate of Covington High School.

Arnold served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.

He began his working career in funeral service at Loving Funeral Home before going to Bliley Funeral Home in Richmond. Upon returning to Covington, Arnold worked for Alleghany Regional Hospital as a nurseŐs aide. He retired from GlassnerŐs Jewelry store with nineteen and one half years of service.

Arnold was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served his church as organist and was active in the church choir from a young age. He was also the organist for Loving Funeral Home.

Arnold is survived by a brother, Harold O. Hostetter, Sr.; three sisters, Thelma H. Wilkosz and husband, Marion, Darlene H. Thompson, and Becky H. Redman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Fleenor officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Gilliland, Rev. William M. Hartsfield, and Rev. Doug Hollenbeck. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Ron Wilkosz, Eddie Persinger, Jayme Persinger, Howard Thompson, Richard Worrell, Bryan Howett, and Ozzie Hostetter.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Harold Hostetter, 405 Corner Drive, Covington.
