Obituary for Jean Drysdale Warren Jean Drysdale Warren
Longtime Clifton Forge Resident Was RN, Active In Her Community

Jean Drysdale Warren, 91, born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of Duncan Drysdale and Margaret Drysdale and widow of Thomas N. Warren, M.D., of Clifton Forge, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at The Colonnades in Charlottesville.

Raised in Lynchburg, Mrs. Warren attended Randolph Macon Woman's College and received her R.N. degree from Jefferson Medical College.

Dr. and Mrs. Warren raised their three children, Thomas N. Warren Jr., David D. Warren, and Margaret Warren Swartz, in Clifton Forge after some years in Charlottesville, Baltimore and New York.

Mrs. Warren was an active volunteer in the community, including the Girl Scouts, and she served as president of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council. She also served on the hospital auxiliary of the C&O/Emmett Memorial Hospital and was active in the formation of the Alleghany Highlands Arts & Crafts Center.

Mrs. Warren was a lifelong learner and enjoyed taking classes at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. In 1982, at age 61, she earned her B.A. degree from Mary Baldwin College.

Mrs. Warren was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church. She loved to travel and play bridge and she took much pleasure in her family and friends.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her brother, Douglas Drysdale and his wife, Elaine; by Tom and his wife, Debbie Warren, of Stuart and their daughter, Andrea Rupe and her husband, Jay Rupe and son, Carter Rupe; by David and his wife, Karyn Warren, of Charlottesville; and by Margaret and her husband, Bruce Swartz, of Richmond and their sons, Dale, Ben and Tim Swartz.

The funeral will be held at Arritt's Funeral Home in Covington at 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 10, 2013. The family will receive friends and family at Arritt's beginning at 1 p.m. on the day of the funeral. Interment will be at Alleghany Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Educational Foundation, P. O. Box 1000, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, in memory of Jean D. Warren.
