Obituary for Tex Chapman Tex Chapman
Longtime Millboro Resident Was Avid Hunter, Farmer

Tex Chapman, of Millboro, Virginia, went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Augusta Medical Center.

Tex was born in Richlands, VA. At eighteen, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and was honorably discharged.

Tex joined the Virginia State Police as a State Trooper in 1963, where he achieved the rank of Senior Special Agent before retiring with 37 years of faithful service.

As a well-known and respected longtime resident of Millboro, Tex was an avid hunter and farmer. He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Calvary Baptist Church, where he had been a member since 1986. Active in the community, Tex was a member of a number of civic organizations and coached Little League baseball.

Tex's family was his pride and joy. He was married to his childhood sweetheart and best friend, the former Patricia Puckett, for 52 years.

He is survived by wife, Patricia, and two loving children, daughter Beverly Chapman of Ringgold, GA, and son, Michael Chapman of Forest City, AR. He is also survived by four very precious grandchildren: Jessica Anderson of Little Rock, John Chapman of Opelousas, LA, Emily Huckstep and Tanner Huckstep of Ringgold, GA; two special great-grandchildren, Presley and Andrew Anderson; a loving sister, Patricia Ramey, of CO, and numerous close friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Glenna Lester Chapman and his brother, Ted Chapman.

A special heartfelt thank you is extended to all the many wonderful friends, as well as the caring and compassionate staff at Augusta Medical Center, who have been so very helpful and supportive to Tex, Patricia and their family.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 429 Crooked Spur Road, Millboro, VA 24460 with Rev. John Green and Rev. Lloyd Via officiating. Interment followed in Calvary Memorial Cemetery, Millboro with full Virginia State Police Honors conducted by the Virginia State Police Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Mark Allen, Lester Bowyer, Shelton Burns, Bill Jennings, Danny Napier, and Bruce Wigglesworth. Honorary pallbearers were the men of Calvary Baptist Church and friends. The family received friends on Friday evening at Nicely Funeral Home, 405 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 429 Crooked Spur Road, Millboro, Virginia 24460.
