Obituary for Audrey Marie Thacker Nester Audrey Marie Thacker Nester
Hot Springs Resident Was Former Telephone Operator, Kmart Restaurant Employee

Mrs. Audrey Marie Thacker Nester, age 82, of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Springs Nursing Home, Hot Springs.

She was the wife of the late John Marion Nester.

Mrs. Nester was born September 8, 1930 in Bath County, the daughter of the late Floyd Houston Thacker and Goldie Raymond Caracofe Thacker. During her working career, she had been employed as a telephone operator and helped her husband run the Stonewall Service Station, before working at the restaurant inside Kmart for a number of years before retiring.

Mrs. Nester had resided in Hot Springs with her brother, Richard and niece, Pam, and was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Nester is survived by two brothers, Richard L. Thacker of Hot Springs and Raymond Houston Thacker of Akron, OH; one sister, Catherine Thacker Walton and husband, Dwight of Hot Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Nester was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Lee Nester; one stepson, Dicky Nester; one brother, Charles Elmer Thacker; three sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Thacker, Barbara Zimmerman Thacker and Clarice Riley Thacker.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 26, 2013, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug E. Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Thacker, Jr., Butch Thacker, Randy Pritt, Cole Plecker, Hayne Yarborough and Robert Baldwin.

The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Boulevard, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
