Obituary for Gracie Mae Taylor Gracie Mae Taylor
West Virginia Native Was Lauderdale A.R.P. Church Member, Handcrafter

Gracie Mae Taylor, 91, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Buena Vista.

She was born March 16, 1922 in Fort Springs, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harry Rufus Hess and Eunice Catherine Reynolds Hess.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Chase Taylor.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church.

Gracie loved to sew, quilt, and had made many special handcrafted items for her family through the years.

Surviving are her three children, James C. Taylor, of Rockbridge Baths; Linda T. Rhodenizer, of Buena Vista; Phyllis T. Arthur, of Goode; two sisters, Elizabeth Stone, of Wooster, Ohio; Margaret Morgan, of Haymarket; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Kris Peaden officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Lifesaving Crew, 708 South Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450 or to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
