Obituary for Charles Franklin (Frankie) Sams Charles Franklin (Frankie) Sams
Operated Several Businesses In Covington Area

Mr. Charles Franklin (Frankie) Sams, age 76, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence.

He was the husband of Margaret Judy Sams.

Mr. Sams was born November 26, 1936 in Sweet Springs, WV, the son of the late Elmer Sams and the late Leenolia Tingler and was reared in the home of Frank and Audrey Brown.

He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

A member of this community since 1960, Mr. Sams owned and operated several local businesses including S&E Trucking.

He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Sams is survived by three daughters, Mila Rothwell of Covington, Sandra Meadows and husband, Dallas of Eagle Rock, Mary Price and husband, Doug of Smith Mountain Lake; two grandchildren, Gina Ayers of Richmond, Jared Meadows of Roanoke; great grandson, Samuel Austin Meadows; one brother, Donnie Tingler and wife, Joanna of Greensboro, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sams was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mary Ashley Meadows; and three brothers, Bernard Tingler, Benny Tingler and Bill Tingler.

A funeral service was conducted at 4:30 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Peters officiating, assisted by Rev. Michael Fleenor. Interment followed in Fairview Christian Church Cemetery, West Virginia.

Pallbearers were Danny Warlitner, Frank Sponaugle, Greg Vess, Gary Martin, Basil Fry, Jared Meadows and Aubrey Bowling. Alternate pallbearers will be Rick Kern and Steve Crawford.

The family received friends on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Covington Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 588, Covington, VA 24426.
